Whether you are acutely aware, or not, it is likely the proportions of garments and how you combine them affects what you most enjoy wearing, and consequently will keep wearing the most.
Gone are the days we let archaic body labels based on the shape of fruit dictate what we should wear. It’s all about discovering what lengths and silhouettes work for you. If like most of us, you are not fit model proportions you are probably conscious of which part of your body is the most challenging to fit. Experimenting with combining different shapes is great and you can easily make one item look very different when worn with something else. Choosing separates or less body conscious garments can be helpful if you are taller or shorter or a combination of sizes over different parts of your body.
Those most stylish are rarely the size and height of a fit model but are those who know how to choose clothes that fit and flatter their body and styles that embrace their personality. Several of the women whose style I most admire are 5’2” and have curvy figures but they really know how to dress well. Most fit models are at least 4” taller than the average UK woman (who is 5’3”), are white, under 35 and a size 8 or 10. In the real world, our bodies are all different, vary among different ethnicities and usually change as women age and/or have children.
A large number of things in my wardrobe have started off different lengths but I have adjusted them to suit my body. They’ve been shortened or lengthened, or changed from a dress to a top, etc. At Keep wearing this will be part of our offering. When you shop online it is often hard to know what proportions the garments will be but at Keep wearing we will provide accurate information to help you choose well. Many of my friends, like me, gravitate to a limited number of brands that generally fit them better or shapes they already know work. When you shop second-hand, however, you open yourself up to discovering brands you’ve never heard of and won’t know how they fit which is why our extra information will be so useful.
